Process and plant safety represents a new focus at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Safety Engineering. The department is currently expanding and with that adding additional courses.
The field of process and plant safety offers solutions for the safe, efficient and economic operation of process plants, which are characterised by high levels of complexity and high risk potential. Due to the multi-layered nature of the subject and the complexity of the plants, interdisciplinary knowledge and research are required. Safety considerations need to cover the entire life cycle of process plants.
Process and plant safety aims to prevent and contain incidents in process plants as well as to limit their consequences. It is an integral part of the planning, construction and operation of process plants due to its holistic approach.
